Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter (cubed)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg (for dough)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup cookie dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Beat in one egg until a soft dough forms. Cover and chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.
- Spread the cookie dough evenly over one half of the rectangle.
- Fold the dough over the cookie dough layer and trim the edges, then cut into triangular shapes.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg; add extra cookie dough dollops on top if desired for more indulgence.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until the cookie croissant is golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack and serve warm to enjoy the best flavor.
Notes
For best results, keep ingredients cold and work the dough as little as possible to preserve its flaky texture. Experiment with mix-ins like extra chocolate chips or chopped nuts. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
